Roberts Market

Roberts was established as a butcher shop in the San Francisco Tenderloin District in 1889 where almost everything was delivered by horse and buggy. Stocked with beautiful, well considered food items, Roberts Market remains one of the oldest grocery stores in California today.

The space, floor to ceiling heath ceramic tiles, does not disappoint, and you'll always leave with a new appreciation for a farmer or small food producer.

Nancy Silverton and the late Amy Pressman dreamed up Short Order and Short cakes years ago and now it's a reality at the original Farmer's Market on Fairfax and Third. Both seasonally inspired, Short Order will serve Silverton approved burgers and pretzel bun hot dogs (to name a few things) laded with lacto fermented pickles and fresh sauerkraut, respectively. At Short Cake you'll find parfaits with strawberry and thyme preserve cut with seasonal compote, sandwiches with fresh cheese and tomato and coriander jam, and fall butters lathered on shortcake bars.
